Sama and Jacqueline here, co-founders of Coqtail Hour. You're receiving this because you signed up for our Global Creative Cohort first access list this week. Before the logistics, though, we want to tell you what we're actually hoping this feels like. Because we've been to enough online programs to know that a list of features tells you almost nothing about whether you'd want to be in one.

Living a creative life can feel like bursts of energy and long periods of stagnation. It can feel like getting one good sentence a day. The worst thing is when it can feel lonely.

We've spent the last three months building the scaffolding of what we call a fourth space, a room of people who grow and move with you. Nine events later, we watched magic unfold: conversations that made people linger, friendship seeds that got planted, and most of all, the sticky feeling that whispered we'd found a room with our people. This fall, we're finding out whether it can hold for people near and far.

We also know what it feels like to not have one specialty. To move between interests and mediums and never quite manage to answer "so what do you do?" in a single sentence.

Most residencies want you to arrive with a discipline, a project, and a plan. If your practice is a little scattered, or it's changed three times in five years, or you've never really called it a practice at all, there isn't usually a room for that.

So we're making the room for that.

The question we keep circling: our lives are already split between online and offline. Can community be the thing that bridges them, instead of another thing pulling us apart?

We genuinely don't know yet. Let's figure it out together!

The Global Creative Cohort is a twelve-week creative residency, September 15 to December 15, with multidisciplinary creatives spread across the world. A season of actually showing up for your practice, alongside people doing the same thing at the same time in completely different places.#

🌍 Pick from 2 creative tracks to guide your residency. We place you with people doing the same.

• Something Old: Finally make the thing you've been carrying around for years and never had the time, space, or support to finish.
• Something New: Explore in any medium this question: What does your corner of the world see that the rest of us tend to miss?

🤝 A small group of 5-7 people

• You'll move through the whole season together, meet regularly, share what you're making, and get to the point where someone knows your work well enough to ask a good question about it.

🎙️ Guest practitioners from around the world, live, every other week.

• They'll talk honestly about how their creative practice actually works. Every session ends with a Q&A, and every session is recorded and yours for the season.

• Opt into what pulls you and skip the rest. We're building this to fit in your hours after five, not to become another thing you feel behind on.

Our first two guests#

Kathy Pham — artist, designer, cultural critic and content creator, joining us from Denver, Colorado. Week of Oct 5-9.

• We've loved Kathy's cultural commentary for a long time, and her practice moves across art, writing and design in a way that's genuinely hard to put in one box.

Eunnuri Lee — interdisciplinary research artist, joining us from LA/SF. Week of Nov 2-6.

• We've been following Eunnuri's work for a long time! She'll be talking about the internet as an archive and material within her practice, alongside her ongoing exploration of identity and cultural memory.

Four more will be announced soon! Drop-ins will be available a week before each session but spots will be extremely limited!

And in December, we publish#

Everyone in the cohort is invited to contribute work to a collaborative creative release on Metalabel. Public, credited, permanent. Then a release party!

It's completely optional. There's no pressure and nobody is going to check on your progress in October. But if you make one thing between September and December, it gets to live somewhere real instead of in your camera roll. Most online programs end when the Zoom link stops working. We really wanted this one to end with something we can celebrate!
